The World of Friendly Halloween Spirits

Halloween is one of the most exciting times of the year, filled with playful decorations, friendly ghosts, and charming costumes. Pronounced HAL-oh-ween, this festive autumn holiday inspires creativity and imagination through fun seasonal symbols. Three fun Halloween words to practice together include:

• Ghost (a friendly, floating spirit that brings a touch of spooky fun)
• Candy (a sweet treat often enjoyed during festive holidays like trick-or-treating)
• Star (a bright point of light shining in the night sky)

Why a Ghost with Candy?

A cheerful little ghost holding a sweet piece of candy was chosen for this page because it captures the playful, non-scary spirit of Halloween that young children love. Pairing a cute spirit with twinkling stars and a ground line creates an engaging scene that encourages storytelling and imaginative play.

Coloring Ideas:

• Use bright, friendly shades of white, soft grey, or pale blue for the cute ghost, adding a contrasting color to highlight its sweet candy wrap.
• Let the child get creative with the candy wrapper and floating stars by coloring them in vibrant reds, blues, and sunny yellows.
• Fill in the background elements and surrounding details with soft night sky colors to make the entire friendly scene pop.

Simple Halloween Activities:

• Finger Trace: Have your child trace the round shape of the ghost, the sweet candy, and the star outlines with their finger before picking up a crayon.
• Spooky Sound Practice: Practice making soft, friendly ghost sounds together like a happy little spirit floating through the air.
• Word Brainstorm: Brainstorm other fun Halloween treats or costumes you might see during the autumn season.

Questions to Ask:

• What kind of sweet flavor do you think this friendly little ghost’s candy is?
• If this cute spirit could fly anywhere to collect treats, where do you think it would go?
